“Instead of saying, "I'm damaged, I'm broken, I have trust issues" say "I'm healing, I'm rediscovering myself, I'm starting over.”

We could say a lot about sexual abuse and sexual abuse survivors here, but it has probably been said before, far more eloquently, by others.
The media tend to concentrate on the more overt and violent end of the spectrum, and this is truly horrific, but there are also more subtle, less obvious forms of sexual abuse, and what we have learned is that the effects of these can sometimes be equally damaging. In some ways they can be more so, as abuse victims (or survivors, the term we prefer to use) are usually already programmed to minimise things or to internalise blame, shame and self-hatred.
Subtle abuse that leaves you doubting yourself can leave you thinking that you are going insane.
Wherever you are on the sexual abuse spectrum, we can help.
